The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Frederick Burns can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

A few stories

I was lucky enough to have been coached by Mr. Burns with the Collingdale Bulldogs. Some of my favorite memories of him are from that time.

I remember going to O'Hagans after our football games on Sundays so he and my dad could watch the Eagles game. They would just feed Fred and I french fries and quarters for the pool table so they could watch the game in peace haha.

I remember when I first started playing football my hands were so bruised so I got arm pads with hand pads attached. Every practice he ribbed me about wearing "sock puppets" haha. I think I laughed every time.

When we were older maybe juniors or seniors in high school he would let me, Freddy and some others practice against his youth CYO basketball team and just clown them haha.

He got me, Freddy and Blong work on Christmas break from college glueing cabinet handles onto display boards. We had a lot of laughs at that job. I too remember listening to sports talk radio all the time and hating it and unlike Matt, I still hate it haha.

My sincere condolences on behalf of my family and I. My dad loved coaching with him. Glad to have known him.
